Born and raised in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, Eva Welsher has had some type of racquet since childhood. As a top junior tennis player in the country, she honed her skills and went on to become a scholar-athlete at Northwestern University, home to one of the best collegiate tennis programs in the nation.
Eva has enjoyed a rich and fulfilling life beyond tennis, sharing 32 years of marriage with her husband, Geoff Welsher, and raising two sons, Geoffrey and Mac. After her children grew up, she returned to competitive sports, excelling in paddle tennis before discovering her true passion: pickleball. In 2021, Eva claimed the #1 spot in Senior Women’s and Senior Mixed doubles. She continued her winning streak, capturing gold in the Senior Mixed Pro division at the 2023 US Pickledball Championships and earning the title of #1 Senior Mixed Player in the world.
Recently retired from Senior Pro competitive play, Eva has turned her focus to promoting pickleball globally. She is dedicated to teaching the sport worldwide and has been appointed the 2025 Tournament Chairperson of the US Open Pickleball Championships in Naples, Florida, the largest pickleball tournament in the world. Eva loves pickleball for its inclusivity, welcoming players of all skill levels, ages, and racquet backgrounds. Her mission is to share her passion for the game, fostering its growth both on and off the court.
